Finding and promoting events at MSU Denver is about to get easier. Beginning this month, Metropolitan State University of Denver will introduce a new University Events Calendar, replacing the current system with a modern, accessible and fully integrated platform, powered by Localist.
The enhancement is designed to modernize how events are shared with students, faculty, staff and the broader community. The Localist platform, which will replace the current system, will provide expanded user-access and publishing permissions, and a responsive design that works across devices.
Among the most notable features:
- Browsing by date, type of event, interest/topic, location or department.
- Event landing pages with improved search engine visibility.
- Seamless integration with MSU Denver’s interactive campus map.
- Built-in event registration tool with customizable forms.
- Per-event Page View and Insights metrics.
- WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance.
The current calendar averages more than 160,000 event views each month, but includes limited licenses and restrictions for public submissions. By comparison, the Localist system offers broader department level event moderation, deeper permissions and a streamlined user experience.
“This new calendar is more than just a technology upgrade — it’s about making campus life more accessible and connected,” said Chris Mancuso, associate director of digital content strategy.
“By giving every department the ability to manage and promote events more effectively, we’re making it easier for students, faculty, staff and the community to discover and engage with everything happening at MSU Denver.”
University Communications and Marketing, which is overseeing the transition, expects the new system to make event discovery easier while giving departments more flexibility in managing their own calendars.
No disruption during transition
There will be no disruption to service during the transition. All content submitted prior to the go-live date will be seamlessly migrated to the new calendar to ensure continuity and accuracy. After the go-live date, you can submit new events through the submission button on the new calendar platform.

The launch is scheduled for Oct. 31, with training and resources to be shared in a phased rollout.
During the rollout, events can be submitted via a public submission form. See the screenshot below of what the new Localist-powered calendar will look like.
