University Policy

Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Policy Advisory Council meets today from 2-3 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. The agenda includes discussions and readings on the following proposed president’s operational policies:

  • Surveillance video (discussion)
The discussion will focus on University protocols on video surveillance, including placement and installation of video cameras and software, privacy rights, and access to and retention of footage. Existing video-surveillance protocols are managed by the Auraria Campus Police Department, https://www.ahec.edu/services-departments/police.
  • Email and Electronic Communications Security Policy (revision, second read)
Championed by the Office of Information Technology Services, this policy revision addresses auto-forwarding of official MSU Denver email by employees and students to personal email accounts to protect confidential and sensitive personal information of employees, students, prospective students and alumni from ongoing cyberattacks or unauthorized use.
  • University Closure Due to Snow or Other Emergency Policy (first read)
Championed by the offices of University Communications and Marketing, Academic Affairs, and Finance and Administration, this policy would provide guidance to MSU Denver students, faculty and staff on aspects of in-person courses and work settings, remote work and online course continuation during a late start, early closure or full-day campus closure due to weather or other emergencies. Existing info is available on MSU Denver’s weather-alerts webpage, www.msudenver.edu/weather, and the Auraria Higher Education Center’s policy on campus closures, https://www.ahec.edu/auraria/campus-wide-policies.
  • Advances for Externally Funded Projects Policy (first read)
The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research is championing a policy to provide guidance to faculty and staff members who seek advances in funding for grants and research funded by an external organization, such as the federal government.
