The Auraria Campus’ new AurariaNet and AurariaNet Guest Wi-Fi networks are now live following months of campuswide preparation and collaboration.
Over the weekend, technicians worked to switch 16 campus buildings to the AurariaNet and AurariaNet Guest Wi-Fi networks, replacing the institution-specific networks such as MSUDenver and MSUDenver Guest. All users, regardless of their institutional affiliation, can now connect their devices to a single network on campus and will have a much easier time maintaining that connection as they move between buildings. This move to a unified campus Wi-Fi experience will also improve the reliability and cost-effectiveness of Metropolitan State University of Denver’s wireless networks.
“For the past two years, the four Auraria Campus entities had a vision to develop a more streamlined wireless environment with a single, unified authentication process, and now Phase I of that vision is complete,” said Darius Jack, director of Network and Infrastructure Services. “I’m very proud of our MSU Denver team’s contributions to this important project and look forward to hearing Roadrunners’ feedback.”
Some buildings need further infrastructure improvements before they can transition to AurariaNet. In particular, the Administration Building will transition later in the year once the Network Modernization Initiative is complete.
Please visit the Auraria Higher Education Center website for more information and steps to sign on to the new network and visit MSU Denver’s ITS support portal and ITS Department website for how-to resources, including specific buildings’ Wi-Fi offerings.
