Students and members of the faculty, staff and the Roadrunner community are invited to attend a President’s Fireside Chat with state Rep. Leslie Herod. Hosted by President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., the hybrid event will include an engaging discussion on the importance of higher education, advocating for Colorado students and Metropolitan State University of Denver’s legislative efforts.
The event will also honor Herod for her leadership and collaboration in the 2021 legislative session, which included helping to secure critical higher-education funding increases. Like MSU Denver, Herod is committed to access, opportunity and equitable advancement, especially for students of color and lower socioeconomic status, who have been historically un-/underserved by higher education.
Faculty members are encouraged to attend the event with their classes. Educational topics for students include:
- How higher education is funded
- Why state support and the budgeting process matter
- The value of higher education
- The specific value proposition of MSU Denver
- Social mobility
