The midterms are here, meaning it’s time to vote — not just in federal races, but also on candidates and issues at the state and local levels.

Voting in Colorado has already begun, but there’s still plenty of time to check your registration status, register and vote by mail or in person. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Comprehensive resources and information are available on the Colorado Secretary of State election webpage.

In-person voting and ballot drop boxes are available on the Auraria Campus at the Tivoli Student Union. See voting locations and schedules on the AHEC website.

Voter registration and status

Any United States citizen and Colorado resident as of 22 days or more before the election who is not serving a term of imprisonment for a felony is eligible to vote in the state.

Not sure if you’re registered? Check your status. If you have a valid Social Security Number, Colorado driver’s license or Colorado ID card, you can register online.

Where to register and vote in person

County clerk offices are primary centers for election resources for each step of the voting process. There, you can request a registration form, register, receive a ballot and vote all at once through Election Day.

You can also fill out a registration form in advance and mail, email or deliver it to county clerk or state offices.

All voters who vote at the polls must provide an acceptable form of identification.

How to get a ballot

Register by Oct. 26 to receive a ballot by mail, or head to a voting center. Spanish-language ballots are available.

How to cast your vote

If you receive a ballot in the mail, fill in votes using a pen with black or blue ink, and follow instructions included in the mailed materials to return it by mail with two stamps.

You can also drop the ballot off at a voting center or drop box, including one outside the Tivoli Starbucks on the Auraria Campus.
