Metropolitan State University of Denver is partnering with Community College of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver to host the Higher Education Diversity Summit on April 7-8.

This year’s event focuses on strengthening the Auraria Campus as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. Darrel Wanzer-Serrano, Ph.D., and Marla Franco, Ph.D., have been selected as the keynote speakers.

The two-day event is themed “Leaning Critically Into HSI/MSI (Minority-Serving Institution) Servingness.” It will provide educators and members of the faculty, staff and community with an opportunity “to learn from practitioners and scholars who are … strengthening servingness and sustainability-building at HSIs,” said Manuel Del Real, Ph.D., MSU Denver executive director of HSI Initiatives and Inclusion.

Del Real said the event will offer “various sessions showcasing the commitment of HSI practitioners on the development and sustainability of HSI grants, legislative efforts and policy, accessibility, student experience, and decolonizing professionalism.”

The goal for attendees is to find new ways to advance MSU Denver’s HSI mission and better serve students.

The event is free for MSU Denver faculty and staff members. Register here
