5th Annual Women in Sport Management Panel and networking event

The Department of Human Performance and Sport is hosting the fifth annual Women in Sport Management Panel and networking event. The event coincides with National Girls and Women in Sport Day, an annual observance to acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes, recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honor the progress and continuing struggle for equality for women in sports.
This year’s panel includes:
- Megan Scremin, president and CEO of Special Olympics Colorado
- Shana Ferguson, chief commercial officer of USA Swimming
- Arielle Orsuto, sports reporter for 9News Denver
- Stephanie Zoesch, compliance-development coordinator for the U.S. Center for SafeSport and an MSU Denver alumna
The event is free, and attendees can join in person (limited first-come, first-served seating available) or virtually.
Cocoa with the cops

The Auraria Campus Police Department invites the tri-institutional community to enjoy a warm drink and get to know the officers who protect our shared campus. A build-your-own cocoa-and-coffee bar will be provided while supplies last. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move to the Tivoli Turnhalle.
“Aristotle’s On the Soul”

Explore insights on key Aristotelian topics such as form, reason, capacity and more with philosophy experts. Caleb Cohoe, Ph.D., professor of Philosophy, will moderate a panel discussion on Aristotle’s psychology and philosophy of mind with international experts who have contributed to Cohoe’s newly released book, “Aristotle’s On the Soul: A Critical Guide.”

Roadrunners vs. Regis Rangers men’s basketball game live on KWGN-Channel 2

Cheer on the MSU Denver men’s basketball team as it competes for a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament in a locally televised match against Regis University. College of Letters, Arts and Sciences Town Hall Meeting and Open Forum

John Masserini, D.M., dean of the CLAS, welcomes all faculty and staff members and students to a Town Hall Meeting and Open Forum. It will be livestreamed via Teams to allow for remote participation. Masserini will present the working draft of the revised CLAS vision, mission and collegewide structure.
The State of Women in Business: Solutions to the Shecession

After seeing hordes of women leave the workforce during the “Shecession” in 2020 and the Great Resignation in 2021, the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce and TARRA, an entrepreneurial women’s network, have sought to explore the issues through expert commentary and discussion in their Executive Roundtable Conversation Series. The final session of the series will culminate with an in-depth review of lessons learned and a proposal for solutions at the State of Women in Business Summit.
The Data Deep Dive, an analysis of relevant trends and themes that have gained prominence throughout the discussions, will be presented by MSU Denver President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., and Annie Butler, Ph.D., chair and professor, MSU Denver Human Services and Counseling.

Virtual Advocacy Day

President Davidson will provide opening remarks about the University’s strategic priorities for 2022 and encourage participants to become engaged in MSU Denver advocacy activities. The event will also include a budget overview and a discussion of legislative opportunities and challenges. In addition to meeting in small virtual groups with legislative aides and staffers, attendees can attend breakout sessions on:
- Working with policymakers
- Conveying messages through the media
- Higher-education policy decisions and 1330 Task Force outcomes
- Bills of interest this session
- Insight into the Colorado Department of Higher Education and the Colorado Commission on Higher Education
- Public-service and civic-engagement opportunities at MSU Denver and voter engagement among college students
