Construction to support updating the mechanical systems is in progress at the Auraria Event Center, and portions of the building are temporarily closed.

Auraria Higher Education Center has collaborated with Metropolitan State University of Denver Athletics and Exercise Science to relocate critical classes, provide access to alternate locker rooms and maintain uninterrupted access to key facilities.

How it might affect you:

  • Fitness Center and locker rooms will remain open throughout construction.
  • Use Entrance No. 1 (west side of the building) to access:
    • Gym lobby and gym.
    • Fitness gym and climbing wall.
    • First-floor locker rooms.
    • Fitness loft.
    • Athletic training room (Room 213).
  • Use Entrance No. 2 (south side of the building) to access:
    • Weight room
    • Room 113G
    • Multipurpose room (Room 111B)

Class relocations

Some classes have been relocated to accommodate construction. Impacted students and instructors have already been notified, and the registrar has updated room locations.

The work is part of a campuswide infrastructure project to replace aging heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems and improve building performance. Construction at the Auraria Event Center began during Spring Break and is expected to continue through the start of the fall semester, with minor impacts extending into early fall.
