Fred Taylor, past chairman of the board of CollegeInvest and a former chairman of the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation Board, has joined the Metropolitan State University of Denver Foundation board.
The MSU Denver Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors committed to the ongoing support of and advocacy for the University, generating philanthropic support for institutional priorities, backing program innovation and more.
The foundation will be enhanced by the addition of Taylor, who is dedicated to this vital work.
“We are delighted to have a community leader like Fred joining our Foundation Board. Not only does he bring exceptional investment expertise, but he also has extensive community connections to MSU Denver and a strong commitment to the University’s mission and students,” said Christine Márquez-Hudson, vice president of University Advancement and CEO of the MSU Denver Foundation.

Prior to joining Beacon Pointe, Taylor served as co-founder and president of Northstar Investment Advisor for 26 years.
Taylor was also a previous board member and chairman of several investment committees, including CollegeInvest, Children’s Hospital Colorado, the Denver Foundation and the Women’s Foundation of Colorado. Born and raised in Colorado, Taylor graduated cum laude from Middlebury College with honors in American History. He currently lives in Denver with his wife Claudia and enjoys skiing, tennis, golf and spending time with his children and three granddaughters.
“My introduction to MSU Denver came through my good friend and MSU Denver Professor Adam Schor, who invited me to speak to his endowment investment class once or twice a year, which I thoroughly enjoyed,” said Taylor. “During the COVID pandemic, I was inspired to deepen that connection by establishing an annual scholarship through my company to support deserving students pursuing careers in the financial services industry. Since then, several MSU Denver students have joined our firm as interns and gone on to become full-time employees.
“I am also a strong supporter and admirer of President Janine Davidson and the impact she continues to make on the University,” Taylor said.
