Metropolitan State University of Denver will be expanding the search for dean of the College of Business to ensure a robust and well-rounded candidate pool.

Work on the expanded search —open to internal and external candidates — will begin immediately. The Office of the Provost and Human Resources are currently determining the most effective timeline to promote broad and meaningful engagement from faculty and staff throughout the process.

A previous round of the search yielded two finalists; however, one candidate subsequently withdrew. In recognition of the importance of this leadership role, University leaders made the strategic decision to broaden the search to explore all available options for securing the strongest possible pool of candidates, said Interim Provost Matt Makley, Ph.D.

“We’re grateful to the search committee and its chair, Dean John Masserini, for their time and dedication,” Makley said. “We also appreciate the thoughtful feedback provided by faculty and staff, which will help inform the next phase of the search. We look forward to continued collaboration as we work to identify a visionary leader who will guide the College of Business into its next chapter of growth and innovation.”

The new dean will succeed Ann Murphy, Ph.D., who is stepping down from her leadership role after 27 years of service in the College of Business.
