Search for new College of Business dean narrows to two finalists 

Open forums to be held this week to meet internal candidates, provide feedback.

The College of Business in the Admin Building on the Auraria Campus.

The search for a new dean of the College of Business at Metropolitan State University of Denver is entering its final stage, with two finalists presented for interviews and open forums this week. 

Faculty and staff members and students are encouraged to attend these sessions to hear directly from the candidates, ask questions and share feedback that will help shape the hiring decision. No RSVP is required. 

Open-forum schedule 

Candidate Gregory Clifton, J.D., LLM, department chair and associate professor of Accounting 
Thursday, Administration Building Room 260C 

  • 9:30-10:30 a.m.: Open forum for faculty and staff members and students  
  • 10:30-11 a.m.: Continued open forum for faculty members only  

Candidate Ethan Waples, Ph.D., associate dean of the College of Business 
Friday, Administration Building Room 200 

  • 9-10 a.m.: Open forum with faculty and staff members and students 
  • 10-10:30 a.m.: Continued open forum for faculty members only 

Attendees are encouraged to offer feedback through a Qualtrics survey, which they will receive following the forums. The search committee and Interim Provost Matt Makley, Ph.D., who is the hiring manager, will review input before a final decision is made. 

The new dean will succeed Ann Murphy, Ph.D., who is stepping down from her leadership role after 27 years of service in the College of Business. Murphy will remain on the faculty through fall to lead the college’s reaccreditation efforts before retiring in December.
