No wireless or wired internet access in Administrative Building May 18-23

Employees in the building are encouraged to work remotely or at other locations on campus.

The Administration Building is the latest facility slated for Metropolitan State University of Denver’s network modernization project, which has significantly improved Wi-Fi speed, coverage and connectivity throughout the Central Classroom Building, Arts Building and more.

The Administration Building upgrade is scheduled for May 18-23, which falls between the Maymester and summer semester to minimize impacts on working and learning.

Project details

The network modernization project involves replacing end-of-life and near-end-of-life network equipment and installing new equipment across campus facilities to improve the wireless environment, explained Darius Jack, director of Network and Infrastructure.

During the project, MSU Denver phone and internet (wired and wireless) connections will be unavailable on all floors of the Administration Building. Employees who work in the Administration Building have been contacted and instructed to work remotely or from another campus building throughout the project. The project team will continue direct communication and outreach with building occupants before, during and after the project.

Safety considerations

The Auraria Campus Police Department and AHEC Distribution and Receiving offices located in the Administration Building have made special arrangements with AHEC to maintain Wi-Fi connection during the work period and will maintain normal operations. ZGO’s Café will also remain open.

More about the project

As a reminder, the Network Modernization Initiative will improve MSU Denver’s network and wireless environments by addressing issues with deferred maintenance and outdated network infrastructure. This project will replace wireless access points and edge/access and distribution layer switches in multiple buildings across campus. These improvements will provide a more robust and stable network environment capable of supporting the university’s evolving needs in a scalable and secure manner.
