MSU Denver selected for Grow With Google HSI Career Readiness Program

Campus partners to collaborate with C2 Hub, providing students opportunities, trainings and skills.

Metropolitan State University of Denver has been selected as one 35 Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) to participate in the Grow With Google Hispanic-Serving Institutions Career Readiness Program. In partnership with Google, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has introduced the Grow With Google initiative to provide HSIs with a grant to launch an evidence-based digital skills curriculum, to help Latino students build their careers and increase their economic potential. The Grow with Google HSI Career Readiness Program offers a semester-long in-person and online digital skills program to help students prepare for critical steps in their career journey.

As the University is one of the leading HSI program participants, MSU Denver’s Classroom to Career Hub has been awarded a micro-grant of $25,000 this spring to fund program operation and training costs. MSU Denver will also be eligible to receive additional funds of up to $25,000 at the end of spring upon evaluation of the program’s completion.

“This funding is an important component of our continued growth of the C2 Hub’s programs and our institutional focus on a more holistic approach to career development for Roadrunners,” said Adrienne Martinez, associate vice president of the C2 Hub. “Through this program, we will strengthen the critical digital skills connected to the job market.”

The C2 Hub will implement a strategy to engage all current MSU Denver students and recent graduates to participate in the Grow With Google curriculum. Recruitment efforts will be twofold: launch to the entire student body and recent graduates to complete the Grow With Google curriculum; and collaborate intentionally with campus partners who serve diverse students to connect them to this curriculum. 

The rollout to the student body will launch this month, inviting students and recent graduates to participate. Messaging to campus departments will go out later this semester, and up to 10 departments will be asked to work with the C2 Hub in three types of engagement:  

  • Engagement 1 — Marketing Only: Agree to promote the curriculum to students in the recipient’s program by sharing the C2 Hub’s promotional materials. These campus partners will be entered into a drawing for a hosted lunch for their office. 
  • Engagement 2 — Moderate Integration: Promote the curriculum to students and partner with the C2 Hub to support students in completing modules. Funding will be provided to support each of these campus partners to purchase unique incentives for their students who complete core modules.
  • Engagement 3 — Full Integration: Engage the same way as the Moderate Integration, but it will take more leadership in working directly with students. Campus partners will facilitate debriefing and check-in sessions with students and engage directly with the program platform (Talent LMS) to track student progress and pull reports. In addition to money for incentives, campus partners will receive $500 to host a recognition celebration, support professional development or appreciate student or professional staff.

The campus-partner component of the program will officially launch this fall.
