Metropolitan State University of Denver is upgrading its student-information system, replacing the current SIS, Ellucian Banner, with Workday Student.
Following the successful completion of the Strategy and Readiness activities and the Planning phase, the University officially entered the Architect and Configuration phase of the project May 5. This phase will continue through next summer and focus on designing and configuring core system features — such as class registration, academic transcripts and other essential functions — to ensure a seamless experience for students, faculty and staff.
Throughout this phase, the project team will gather feedback, refine functionality and conduct periodic demonstrations to showcase progress. These efforts are critical to ensuring that the system is fully functional and ready for deployment.
Meet the project team
The Workday Student Project team is composed of professionals from across the University’s departments, working in partnership with consultants from Accenture.
“The success of this transformative student-information system will be a direct result of the team’s collaboration, expertise and commitment,” said Connie Sanders, registrar. “While the project team leads the implementation, we remain committed to engaging additional stakeholders throughout the process to ensure that feedback is heard and preferences are reflected.”
Stay connected
The MSU Denver community is encouraged to stay engaged and informed as the project progresses, as input is vital to ensuring that the product reflects the unique workflows and priorities of our campus community. Regular updates will be shared through the Early Bird and the Workday Student Project website, keeping students, faculty and staff up to date on key milestones and upcoming changes.
“The Workday Student Project is more than a system upgrade — it embodies MSU Denver’s commitment to innovation, collaboration and student success,” said Kevin Taylor, AVP and chief information officer. “We’re excited to partner across the University to enhance the student experience and build a foundation that supports our community well into the future.”
