Knowing how to report concerns and access emergency resources is essential for anyone who works, studies or attends events on the Auraria Campus. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with key campus safety resources.

Stay informed with emergency alerts

MSU Denver uses an emergency notification system to share time-sensitive information, including campus closures, weather alerts and safety incidents.

Make sure your contact information is current so you don’t miss critical alerts.

Emergency phones across campus

The Auraria Campus is equipped with emergency telephone call stations that connect directly to ACPD dispatch. Activate phones by pressing the large red button and dial 9-1-1.

  • Outdoor emergency phones are red, approximately 9 feet tall and located in parking lots and pedestrian areas.
  • Indoor emergency phones are located throughout campus buildings in common areas.

If you see something, say something

If you notice suspicious behavior, a safety concern or anything that just doesn’t feel right, report it to the Auraria Campus Police Department (ACPD) using Text-a-Tip: 720-593-TIPS (8477).

The tip line also accepts photos.

Get home safely at night

The Night Rider Service can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A member of the ACPD will escort you between any two points on campus.

Call 303-556-2000 to request a ride.

AEDs and bleeding control kits

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and bleeding control kits are available in every campus building, typically near the first-floor elevator bank.

  • Locations are marked on evacuation floor-plan maps posted in offices and classrooms.
  • AEDs are designed to be user-friendly and provide step-by-step instructions.
  • Bleeding control kits are intended for mass casualty or severe bleeding situations.

While instructions are included, ACPD strongly recommends completing a Stop the Bleed (civilian trauma training) course, offered free through the ACPD and Office of Emergency Management.

Free Narcan

Free medication to rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose is available at:

  • First floor of the Jordan Student Success Building
  • CU Denver Wellness Center
  • Community College of Denver-designated hallway inside the Tivoli near the Student Programming, Activities & Resource Center Office

Learn more about administering Narcan.

Law enforcement activity on campus

Report any non-ACPD law enforcement activity on campus to ACPD or MSU Denver’s Office of the General Counsel at 303-605-5364.

Winter weather

Colorado weather can change quickly. Review severe weather procedures, including snow closures and delays, on the Winter Weather page

Hazardous conditions

If you encounter hazardous conditions on campus like ice, flooding or maintenance concerns, contact the Auraria Campus Facilities team:

  • During business hours: 303-556-3260
  • After hours: 303-556-5000

Safety is a shared responsibility

Campus safety works best when everyone knows the resources available and feels empowered to use them. Taking a few minutes each semester to review these tools helps create a safer, more prepared campus for faculty, staff and students alike.
