The annual Employee Engagement Survey launches Feb. 12 and runs through Feb. 26 — and this year, a friendly departmental competition adds extra motivation to participate.

“Fueling Excellence Together means everyone has a seat at the table to shape the future of Metropolitan State University of Denver,” said Charles Kibort, director of Human Resources Operations and Strategy. “This survey gives leaders the opportunity to hear what’s working, what’s not and where we can grow as a community.”

The competition heats up

This year, departments, branches, colleges and schools will face off for top bragging rights and an exclusive Engagement Champion Award.

Here are the matchups:

  • Student Affairs vs. College of Health and Human Sciences
  • Administration vs. Academic Affairs (excluding colleges/schools)
  • Athletics vs. Advancement vs. Office of the President/Office of Diversity and Inclusion/Legal/Government Relations/Strategy/Marketing and Communications
  • College of Letters, Arts and Sciences vs. College of Aerospace, Computing, Engineering and Design/College of Business/School of Hospitality/School of Education

The four teams with the highest completion rate will emerge as Champions of Engagement, earning not only a well-deserved award but recognition for leading the way in shaping a vibrant workplace culture.

Every employee who completes the survey can stop by Human Resources to pick up a special thank-you: a Fueling Excellence Together logo sticker and a snack.

Why your participation matters

The Employee Engagement Survey is more than just a workplace tradition; it’s a driving force behind meaningful improvements across MSU Denver and reflects our shared commitment to our CADRE values. Insights from last year’s survey led to updates in professional-development programs, enhancements to internal-communication tools and new initiatives that support faculty and staff success.

Revisiting the updated action plans from last year is a great way to see feedback in action. Learn more in the latest survey action-plan update in this Early Bird article.

As always, the survey results are confidential and provided in aggregate.
