The Rowdy’s Corner food pantry will host the Rowdy’s Corner Farm Stand on the Jordan Student Success Building Lawn every Thursday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. until Aug. 8. The summerlong initiative offers fresh, affordable local produce to the Auraria Campus while also supporting the year-round operations of Rowdy’s Corner.
With a $10 donation, Auraria Campus students and employees can fill a reusable bag with root veggies, greens, garlic, onions, cabbage, squash and more. All produce is locally sourced from Metropolitan State University of Denver partners Switch Gears Farms and East Denver Food Hub as well as the University’s own garden plots on campus.
“All the produce available for purchase at the farm stand will also be available at no cost to students at Rowdy’s Corner,” said Richard Miccio, associate director of Wellbeing, Inclusion and Behavioral Intervention at the Health Center at Auraria. “The donations raised will help fund Rowdy’s Corner operations, such as food purchasing, delivery costs and other miscellaneous needs through the upcoming academic year, as the program saw record numbers of hungry students in the spring semester.”
