Media Buzz: Faculty members share expertise on potential recession, artificial intelligence

Instructors Christina Huber, Steve Beaty and others weigh in on national issues.

The Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty brain trust reaches almost every point on the academic spectrum, and we are always proud to see Roadrunners sharing their knowledge. Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics, providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.

Here’s a sampling from December:

Christina Huber, Economics professor, interviewed with Scripps National Media about why it has been difficult to predict a potential recession and why economists are keeping an eye on consumer holiday spending.

Steve Beaty, Computer Sciences professor and chair, interviewed with Scripps National Media about the pros and cons of recent technological advancements with artificial-intelligence chatbots.

Darrin Duber-Smith, Marketing senior lecturer, interviewed with Fox LiveNow about repairing brand trust following Southwest Airlines’ ongoing consumer-service issues during the holiday travel season.

Jeff Price, Aviation and Aerospace Sciences professor, interviewed with the New York Times about the United Kingdom’s leading efforts in streamlining airport-security requirements and how the U.S. compares.

Alex Padilla, Economics professor and chair, interviewed with Fox31 about the economic factors that contribute to illegal immigration and a group of 150 migrants who arrived in Denver.
