Dear Roadrunners,
I hope you’re all having a great Homecoming week. If you haven’t gotten in on the fun, I recommend joining today’s 4 p.m. tailgate party and cheering on the women’s soccer team as it takes on CSU Pueblo at 6 p.m. Check out more great events happening through the weekend and be sure to wear your Roadrunner Red proudly.
Also, if you have not yet taken the confidential Energage Workplace Survey, head straight to your inbox and look for an email from “Energage Survey.” It takes only a few minutes, and your feedback is essential to making this University a better workplace for all.
Secure Campus Phase 3 building-access reminder
On Oct. 2, the Auraria Higher Education Center will move to Phase III of the Auraria Secure Campus Initiative. All exterior entrances on all campus buildings will operate under one of three categories of access:
- Open
- Limited entry
- Campus ID-badge entry only
Roadrunners should carry their campus ID badge with them at all times when on campus.
Additionally, faculty members can help by sharing the following during class this week:
“MSU Denver and the Auraria Campus are transitioning to a secured campus, where most exterior building entrances will require a campus ID badge (this is their student ID) to enter starting Monday, Oct. 2. Do you have your student ID on you and readily accessible for Monday? If you do not have a campus ID badge, please visit the ID Station located in the Tivoli Student Union across from the bookstore.”
To complement the Auraria Secure Campus Initiative, information on how to acquire optional visitor ID badges and community-member ID badges is available at the MSU Denver Facilities webpage. Visitor ID badges are best used for temporary guests such as vendors, contractors and other visitors, while community-member ID badges are best used for long-term people with strong affiliations with MSU Denver who are not students or employees, such as board members, University council members, external-partner principal representatives, etc.
Please see this Early Bird article for full details on accessing and properly using these resources.
Details on securing doors during after-hours events
If you are hosting an on-campus event outside of normal operating hours, you must make a separate building-access plan for guests who do not have an active MSU Denver campus ID badge.
Buildings will not be unlocked after hours to accommodate events. Additionally, propping open doors is not allowed and will result in the loss of ability to host events on campus.
Safe and approved access options could include:
- Staffing a designated exterior door.
- Leaving a name/phone number on the door for guests to call upon arrival.
If you have questions about the Auraria Secure Campus Initiative, please refer to the AHEC website or the MSU Denver Facilities webpage.
Free Covid tests and immunizations
Every U.S. household may place an order to receive four free Covid-19 rapid tests delivered directly to your home. Please visit www.covid.gov/tests to submit your order.
Additionally, please watch the Early Bird for announcements from the Health Center at Auraria regarding Covid-19 booster-shot availability. The HCA’s fall walk-in immunization clinic, which includes influenza and RSV vaccines, is open through Nov. 17. Vaccines are available only to members of the Auraria Campus community with a valid campus ID and will be provided at no cost to patients.
Please visit the HCA website for more details and continue to:
- Wash your hands often.
- Cover your cough.
- Stay home if you’re feeling sick (and encourage others to do the same).
