The annual University-wide Employee Engagement Survey returns Feb. 11–25, giving MSU Denver employees an opportunity to share their ideas and to improve our workplace experience as we strive to be recognized as Colorado’s most desired place of employment, Pillar V of the 2030 Strategic Plan.

Charles Kibort

“Fueling Excellence Together is about making sure every employee has a voice as we continue to strengthen Metropolitan State University of Denver,” said Charles Kibort, executive director of Human Resources Operations and Strategy. “The survey helps leaders understand what’s working well, where there are challenges and how we can keep improving the employee experience.”

Friendly rivalries raise the stakes

This year’s survey once again features a campuswide competition, with departments, branches, colleges and schools competing for participation bragging rights and the coveted Engagement Champion Award.

Here’s how the matchups break down:

  • Enrollment and Student Affairs vs. Administration
  • College of Business vs. School of Education AND School of Hospitality
  • College of Letters, Arts and Sciences vs. College of Aerospace, Computing, Engineering and Design AND College of Health and Human Sciences
  • Academic Affairs (excluding colleges/schools) vs. Athletics/Advancement/Office of the President/ Office of Diversity and Inclusion/Legal/Strategy and External Affairs/Marketing and Communications

The four groups with the highest survey completion rates will be named Champions of Engagement and recognized for leading the way in helping shape a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

As a thank-you, every employee who completes the survey is invited to stop by Human Resources to pick up a Fueling Excellence Together sticker and a snack.

Why your ideas matter

The Employee Engagement Survey is more than an annual check-in. It’s a key tool for driving meaningful change across MSU Denver and reinforcing the University’s shared commitment to its CADRE values.

Feedback from last year’s survey informed updates to senior leadership trust, interdepartmental cooperation and improvements to internal communication. Read more about survey-based action plans in this Early Bird article

As always, survey responses are confidential and reported only in aggregate. Demographic information helps Human Resources collaborate with constituent and affinity groups to better understand the needs of MSU Denver’s diverse community and identify opportunities to improve engagement and the overall work experience. Use this job aid to update your information in Workday.

The survey asks for feedback related to:

  • MSU Denver overall
  • Your branch, college or school
  • Your department
  • Your manager

Employees who have been with MSU Denver for at least 90 days are eligible to participate. Those hired on or after Nov. 18, 2025, will not receive a survey link.

Mark your calendar: Feb. 11–25

Now’s the time to rally your team, lean into a little friendly rivalry and make your voice heard. Together, MSU Denver employees are Fueling Excellence Together — one survey response at a time.
