Metropolitan State University of Denver employees will get an extra paid day off Dec. 24, extending the University’s Winter Break.

Gov. Jared Polis this week approved a floating holiday for permanent state employees, which MSU Denver faculty and staff members will observe Dec. 24. The University was initially scheduled to close Dec. 25-Jan.1, but with Polis’ announcement, the University will now be closed from Dec. 24-Jan. 1.

Please note that campus buildings will remain accessible via campus ID badge only during this time.

Paid state holidays apply to the following employee classes:

  • Classified staff
  • Professional staff
  • Faculty

Reminder for annual leave requests

Employees who previously requested annual leave for Dec. 24 should update their requests in Workday to reflect the change:

  • In Workday, go to “Absence” under the menu on the left side.
  • Click on “Correct My Absence.”
  • Click on the leave request submitted for Dec. 24.
  • Click the minus sign next to the leave.
  • Click “Submit.”
  • This will then route to supervisors for approval, and then you will see a notification of approval.

As the year comes to a close, MSU Denver encourages its community members to use this time to rest, recharge and reflect on the importance of maintaining a healthy balance among work, education and personal life.
