The Early Bird newsletter is taking a break. We’ll resume regular publication on Jan. 13, when the first newsletter of the year is scheduled to land in your inboxes.

Although the newsletter will be on hold, the Early Bird team will continue processing requests and may publish select stories to the Early Bird website during the break. Be sure to explore the site and use the search function to catch up on employee news or browse recent announcements.

Thank you to all who submitted story ideas this year — your contributions help keep the MSU Denver community informed and inspired.

Tips to prep your office before the break

The holidays bring joy, treats and — if we’re not careful — pests. If you’ve hosted a potluck or have food in your office, now’s the time to tidy up. Here’s how to prep your space for a smooth, pest-free return in January:

  • Close doors to your space and ensure that your belongings are in locked drawers or cabinets when you leave.
  • Turn off and disconnect all electronic items, including computers.
  • Wipe down your desk. If you drop crumbs on the floor, submit a work order or notify [email protected] at least three days prior to break so the custodial crew can clean your space.
  • If you have plants in your office, prevent water from sitting in the base overnight, as standing water attracts pests.
  • If you have an allowable service animal on campus, empty their food and water bowls each night and pick up any remnants of food or treats.

For facilities-related issues:

  • Call Auraria Higher Education Center Facilities at 303-556-3260 (business hours)
  • Call Auraria Campus Police at 303-556-5000 (after hours or for safety/security concerns)

From all of us at the Early Bird, thank you for your readership and support throughout the year. We’ll see you in January. Until then, have a safe and relaxing holiday!
