Voting for next staff senators open through May 11

Senate also shares survey results, details for Happiest Hour event May 18.

Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Staff Senate convened April 11 for its monthly meeting led by President Rebecca Reid, innovation and transformation analyst for Human Resources. Staff Senate announced that voting is now open for 2023-24 staff senators.

There were no votes taken at the meeting, and committee members went straight into updates after the welcoming and guest speaker. 

Committee updates 

Budget Taskforce 

  • University Planning Budget Advisory Committee continues to meet every Friday; meetings are open to the public.  
  • Spring enrollment is down year over year but is improving, and 44% of students are trending toward part-time enrollment. 

Senate Policy Review 

  • Committee is focused on working with Human Resources on a new employee-complaint policy.  

Communications 

  • The committee is collaborating with the restructuring task force and will continue to focus on that. 

Elections 

  • 62 staff members were nominated for Staff Senate positions. Ballots became available April 26 and can be submitted through May 11. Announcements will be made May 15 before senators assume their roles July 3.

Recognition and Scholarships 

  • Information is now available to give to the Classified Memorial Endowed Scholarship (soon to be named “MSU Denver Memorial Staff Endowed Scholarship”).  
  • The giving page
    • In the designation box, any donor would select “other” in the drop-down and then add code 3CCE3 to give to the endowment or CCE55 to the payout for scholarships.
