One of the leading offices in supporting student success has launched a search for its next associate vice president of Equity and Student Engagement.
Cynthia Baron, Ph.D., who previously held this role, is moving to a new position as associate vice president of Campus Engagement in the Kemper Classroom to Career Hub.
Baron has spent 18 years working in higher education administration. At MSU Denver, her work has focused on equity and inclusion, student engagement, and leadership development, including previous leadership of the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion and First-Year Success Program.
MSU Denver began its search for the next associate vice president of Equity and Student Engagement last month, with a new hire expected in December or January.
During the search, Jonathon Sanders, Ph.D., director of Veteran and Military Student Services, is filling Baron’s former role in an interim capacity.
Sanders is an Army infantry veteran whose work focuses on veteran and military student success and the transition from military service to higher education and civilian life. At MSU Denver, he has supported more than 1,000 military-connected students and led initiatives focused on student success and engagement.
Additionally, Sonia Falcon, director of the Student Care Center, is serving as interim associate dean of students while Associate Dean of Students Andrew McGeehan is on parental leave. Falcon is expected to serve in the interim role through mid-November.
