The new year has just begun, and already metro Denver is facing incredible challenges. At Metropolitan State University of Denver, our hearts are heavy for the thousands of Coloradans affected by the Marshall and Middle Fork fires, including many members of our Roadrunner family.
In times like these, we must stand strong together. MSU Denver is here to assist alumni, students, faculty members and staff members whose lives have been upended by the fires and to provide opportunities for members of our campus community to aid those in need.
Roadrunners affected by the fires are encouraged to contact their manager or connect with Stacy Dvergsdal, associate vice president of Human Resources. Additionally, there is a page dedicated to resources and support services, including information on how to:
- Apply to the Student Emergency Fund (MSU Denver students) or the Roadrunner Response Fund (MSU Denver employees and alumni) for financial relief.
- Access emergency accommodations at the SpringHill Suites Denver Downtown.
- Receive services from the Counseling Center and MSU Denver CARE Team.
- Connect with community resources.
Those who want to assist fellow Roadrunners during this difficult time can:
- Make a gift to the Student Emergency Fund to support MSU Denver students impacted by natural disasters such as wildfires, flooding, etc.
- Make a gift to the Roadrunner Response Fund to support MSU Denver employees and alumni impacted by natural disasters such as wildfires, flooding, etc.
For additional ways to help, including volunteer opportunities, visit the resource-and-support-services website and watch our social-media channels.

Please continue lifting up one another, and thank you for all you do to support our community.
