A life dedicated to justice
Márquez, the sister of Vice President of University Advancement Christine Márquez Hudson, grew up in Grand Junction. After graduating from Stanford University, she served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps as a teacher and community organizer in Camden, New Jersey, and Philadelphia before earning her law degree at Yale Law School. She was appointed to the Colorado Supreme Court in 2010 and began her term as chief justice last July.
Márquez regularly mentors students and aspiring young lawyers, including first-generation college students. Before joining the state Supreme Court, Márquez served on the boards of multiple bar associations and the Latina Initiative and as chair of the Denver LGBTQ Commission.
The ongoing President’s Fireside Chat series provides an opportunity for members of the MSU Denver community to hear from a wide range of local leaders who sit with Davidson for a thoughtful conversation about their leadership journeys and careers and issues of the day. Members of the audience will be allowed to ask questions during the event.
The event is free, but seating is limited.
