Dear Roadrunners,
This week, I’d like to focus on two of Metropolitan State University of Denver’s largest ongoing projects: the Workday transformation and the Health Institute Simulation Labs (a.k.a. Sim Labs) project. So let’s dive in.
Workday is live — what’s next?
The fact that Workday has launched does not mean work associated with the project has slowed down. The Workday Team continues to support employees through this significant transition by prioritizing critical issues that impact large user groups.
Employees should continue to ask their supervisor and Workday Change Agents for help and use the training materials and FAQs. If resolution is not available, employees can report Workday issues through the Workday Launch Support system, which tracks and trends any widespread problems or the need for further communication and/or instruction.
Phase 2 of the Workday project is expected to begin this semester and continue throughout the summer. This next phase will focus on implementing additional tools and resources to further align our people strategy with MSU Denver’s strategic goals.
Workday Phase 2 will include:
- Talent optimization for employee development
- Succession planning and performance management
- Effort certification for grants management
- A new modern supplier portal implementation
- More robust budgeting and adaptive planning tools
Please continue to check the MSU Denver Workday website and the Early Bird for any news regarding Workday.
Kudos to the Workday Transformation Team for achieving a successful, on-time launch.
It was no small feat! And a huge THANK YOU to all Roadrunners for engaging in this Universitywide change initiative and continuing to exhibit grace and understanding as the teams continue to work out the kinks.
Health Institute Simulation Labs
Additionally, I’m happy to report that the Health Institute Simulation Labs project is progressing and that we are nearing the final design phase.
Progress to date
Our project team has been refining all the department designs to set the project’s Guaranteed Maximum Price, also known as a “not-to-exceed price.” Most notably, we’ve done so within budget without sacrificing items that improve the student and faculty-member experience. Setting the GMP is a key milestone for the project that will allow Howell Construction, the awarded general contractor, to move forward with procurement. This is critical given some long lead times for certain materials. Thank you to the entire team and to the departments that helped in this important effort.
To keep everyone as informed as possible, the project team has created a SharePoint site that will be regularly updated with the latest project information. This site is now live and can be accessed by anyone with an MSU Denver e-mail address.
What’s next
The design-development phase is now complete, and the construction documents will be issued in February. A final series of user-group meetings is scheduled for the third week of February with most individual departments participating in the project. Please join us during our Design Advisory Committee meeting in JSSB 400 on Feb. 21 from 1-2 p.m. for a live update on the project. The meeting is open to anyone interested in the Sim Labs project.
