Nominate a colleague, yourself or a student employee for Staff Senate

Attend Tuesday’s meeting to learn more about open senator and officer positions.

The Metropolitan State University of Denver Staff Senate is accepting nominations for open officer and senator positions, including vice president, treasurer and a new Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion advisor, through March 11. Staff members are encouraged to nominate someone (themselves or a colleague) whom they believe would be a good representative. Student employees are also eligible and encouraged to serve on the Staff Senate.

Benefits of joining

Participating in the Staff Senate allows employees to be involved in University-level decision-making, providing a voice for MSU Denver staff members and connecting with departments and staff members across campus.

You are invited to join a Staff Senate meeting via Teams on Tuesday or March 12 at 10 a.m. to learn more about what it’s like to be part of a team making a difference for all administrative and classified staff members and student employees Universitywide.

Quotes from Staff Senate members:

“Joining the Staff Senate is a great way to amplify the collective staff voice, impact decision-making and effect change at the University level,” said Brian Gunther, technical-process-and-communications manager. “On a personal level, it has opened the door to collaborating across the University with people I would likely not have interacted with otherwise. Contributing to the Staff Senate is absolutely worth the effort.”

“Being involved with the Staff Senate has helped me feel more connected to the larger MSU Denver community outside of my role and department. I’ve met people I wouldn’t have otherwise,” said Lara Bruce, project director. “It’s been a fun way to keep up with everything happening at MSU Denver.”

How to nominate

If you know someone who would make a great addition to the Staff Senate, use this form to nominate colleagues or yourself for senator and leadership positions. Nominated staff members will receive a Nominee Information Form to collect information for the ballot and verify their nomination acceptance.
