Multiple honors offer opportunities to celebrate MSU Denver’s remarkable individuals and teams.

Every day at Metropolitan State University of Denver, employees make an extraordinary impact by driving innovation, supporting student achievement and modeling the values that define our University. If you know someone who inspires others through their exceptional efforts, take this opportunity to honor them with a nomination for the prestigious Roadrunners Who Soar Awards.  

The same person can be nominated for multiple awards, and self-nominations are encouraged for many award categories. 

Explore the Roadrunners Who Soar Awards 

Soar Awards 

  • Purpose: Recognizes individual employees who are excellent ambassadors for MSU Denver and demonstrate the University’s CADRE values, positively impacting student and employee success. 
  • Eligibility: Open to faculty, staff, administrators and hourly and student employees. 
  • Nominations due: Dec. 13 
  • Details: Nominees should stand out as high performers who significantly contribute to their teams and the broader University community. These individuals are celebrated and recognized as role models at MSU Denver. 

Team Roadrunner Awards 

  • Purpose: Honors cohesive, high-performing teams fostering positive, innovative and equitable work environments. 
  • Eligibility: Open to all teams within MSU Denver. 
  • Nominations due: Dec. 13 
  • Details: Nominate a team that excels in collaboration, mutual accountability and creating a space for innovation that supports the University’s mission. 

Golich Awards 

The Golich Awards celebrate faculty and staff contributions to undergraduate research, scholarship and creative projects. The available categories and their deadlines are: 

  • Outstanding Faculty Advisor: Nominations due Dec. 6. 
  • Chair Excellence Award: Nominations due Dec. 6. 
  • Excellence in Online Teaching: Nominations due Dec. 13. 
  • Staff and Administrator Excellence: Nominations due Dec. 13. 
  • Outstanding Mentor for Undergraduate Research: Nominations due Dec. 13. 
  • Student Employee Supervisor of the Year: Nominations due Dec. 18. 
  • Student Employee of the Year: Nominations due Dec. 18. 
  • Faculty Awards of Excellence: The nomination period is closed.  
  • Open Educational Resources Champion: The nomination period is closed. 
  • Outstanding Professional Advisor: The nomination period is closed.

Roadrunner Shoutout 

  • Purpose: Monthly recognition for those who go above and beyond in their roles, exemplifying CADRE values. 
  • Eligibility: Open to all MSU Denver employees. 
  • Nominations due: monthly 
  • Details: A simpler, more frequent acknowledgment of contributions that make a significant difference. Honorees are recognized during the President’s Cabinet meetings. 

President’s Distinguished Service Award 

  • Purpose: A prestigious award recognizing extraordinary service and leadership that elevates the University’s mission. 
  • Eligibility: Selected by President Janine Davidson and senior leadership. 
  • Award: Includes a $2,000 stipend, presented at the spring awards ceremony. 
  • Nomination period: Jan. 20-Feb. 7

To submit a nomination, visit the Roadrunners Who Soar website. Take the time to thoughtfully describe how your nominee meets the award’s criteria, providing specific examples of their contributions and impact. 

Nominations for most awards are open until Dec. 13, so don’t wait — shine a spotlight on the incredible individuals and teams that make MSU Denver a community of excellence.
