MSU Denver to observe Governor’s recently announced July 5 holiday

Offices will be closed, but buildings remain accessible by campus ID card access only.

Metropolitan State University of Denver will now be closed for holidays July 4 and 5. Buildings will remain accessible via campus ID card only.  

Will the University close for July 5?

Yes. The University will be closed July 5, with classes and operations resuming July 8. 

Will campus services be closed July 5?

Yes. Offices will be closed, but buildings remain accessible by ID card access only. As usual, essential duties and operations will continue through the holiday weekend.

What is a special holiday?

It is an additional holiday designated for one-time observance by the governor after the schedule for the state’s 11 paid holidays has been determined. These designations are often announced by the governor within a few weeks of the extra day(s). When this occurs, the University will determine how to observe the holiday to best meet MSU Denver’s needs. 

Are all employees eligible to take state holidays?

Paid state holidays apply to the following employee classes: 

  • Classified staff 
  • Professional staff 
  • Faculty
