While Aug. 7 was the deadline to register for fall courses at Metropolitan State University of Denver, permanent employees and their spouses and/or dependents still have time to use the Employee Tuition Benefit.
Friday, Aug. 18 is the application deadline for the Employee Tuition Benefit for the fall semester without incurring penalties.
The Employee Tuition Benefit is set up to show appreciation to the MSU Denver community for its hard work. Those who are eligible for this program can have their tuition waived for up to 12 credits each semester.
Tuition Benefit process
- The student must apply for the Tuition Benefit each semester they would like to use the benefit.
- Read the Tuition Benefit Rules and Procedures and attend an Employee Tuition Benefit Info Session. The information session is not required but is highly recommended.
- Apply for University Admissions.
- Register for classes.
- Apply for the MSU Denver Employee Tuition Benefit: Username is the student’s NetID (your NetID is the first part of your email address — everything before the @ symbol).
Information Sessions
To help employees/students understand the procedures, the information session available will:
- Show you where to find the Tuition Benefit Procedures and Application on the Total Rewards website.
- Summarize the Tuition Benefit Procedures, especially important points regarding eligibility, rules and procedures.
- Provide an opportunity to ask Tuition Benefit related questions of key MSU Denver employees from the Total Rewards office, Admissions, Financial Aid, the Office of the Registrar and the Office of the Bursar.
Timelines and deadlines
- If a late application is received for any given semester, there will be a 4% late service fee applied to the outstanding balance.
- In addition, every month following there will be an additional 1.5% late service fee applied until the Employee Tuition Benefit Application is submitted.
- Monday, Aug. 7 — Fall MSU Denver undergraduate Admission Application Deadline.
- Friday, Aug. 18 — Fall Tuition Benefit Application Deadline.
- Wednesday, Sept. 6 — Fall Tuition Benefit Awards paid to student accounts (may take up to two weeks to process payments).
