Roadrunner Community

Join your colleagues on Cesar Chavez Day of Service

Register by Friday for the March 29 event and collaborate with Ronald McDonald House or Habitat for Humanity.

Serving communities is a large part of what makes Roadrunners so critical to Denver. Through the Roadrunners Give Back program, Metropolitan State University of Denver employees are encouraged to participate in the Cesar Chavez Day of Service event March 29.

The Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion is seeking 50-100 volunteers to partner with Ronald McDonald House or Habitat for Humanity. Participants may choose among making a meal for families at Ronald McDonald House, creating and packaging resources for people experiencing homelessness or building permanent affordable housing through Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to increased endorphins and serotonin for helping the lives of others, volunteers will receive a “Roadrunners Give Back” T-shirt.

“This event stems from MSU Denver’s core value of community and servingness,” said Toni Aho, associate director of Equity and Student Leadership. “The opportunity for the MSU Denver community to engage with organizations that are working toward solutions to the challenges facing the Denver metro (area) is a learning experience that cannot be replicated in a classroom.

“Encouraging civic engagement moves individuals from citizens to active citizens/individuals who consider their actions and values within the larger scope of positive social change.”
