If your office or department could use extra hands during the break between spring and summer semesters, check out Veterans Break Pay, a program that offers veteran and military-affiliated students the opportunity to work full-time on campus between semesters.
As student veterans do not receive GI Bill payments from the Department of Veterans Affairs when classes are not in session, the student-driven Veterans Break Pay program helps fill the financial gap. Veterans Break Pay wages are paid out of a special fund so no money comes out of any Metropolitan State University of Denver program budget. Hiring a student through the program is a great opportunity to get assistance for special projects or to keep the front desk staffed during the break.
These positions also provide a way for student veterans to earn income in a convenient campus job without a long-term commitment. Many students involved in Break Pay have continued their work-study or hourly positions with the offices that employed them through the program.
Items to note:
- Students may work up to 40 hours per week during the break between spring and summer semesters.
- Work weeks are May 16-June 10.
- Hours are logged and approved through Webtime.
If interested, please complete this brief form regarding the type of work available by April 26.
