Food and fun for all to start the semester

College of Health and Human Sciences kicks off inaugural CHHS Week with campus lunch, departmental open houses.

The College of Health and Human Sciences is one of Metropolitan State University of Denver’s newest colleges, and there’s no better way to kick off new beginnings than the inaugural CHHS Week of events, said Hope Szypulski, DNP, Dean of the CHHS.

“The common thread through all of our departments is that we’re all interwoven in caring for each other, so we really wanted the chance to bring everyone across the University together to celebrate,” she said. 

Several events are open to the entire MSU Denver community, including: 

Tuesday, Sept. 3 

Lunch on the Lawn 

11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Historic 9th Street Parkway 

Enjoy food, fun and a brief update from Szypulski on all the exciting things happening in the CHHS this year.

Wednesday, Sept. 4 

Open House 

Noon-3 p.m. 

Stop by each of the eight CHHS departments and the Health Institute to learn more about the people, programs and possibilities that make up the College of Health and Human Sciences. Departments will participate in a decorating contest, and there will be food and swag at each location. 

Open to all MSU Denver faculty members, staff members, students (current/prospective) and community members — no RSVP needed! 

Thursday, Sept. 5 

Why I Keep Going: A Conversation on Men’s Health with “The Bachelorette’s” Zac Clark 

2-3 p.m. | CAVEA Theatre 

Join the “The Bachelorette’s” Zac Clark (now of Release Recovery), a representative from wellness-tech app Manual and the Department of Health Professions in this candid conversation about men’s health and what MSU Denver is doing to help address this challenge. 

Open to all MSU Denver community members.

The week’s agenda also includes college-specific affairs, including a ribbon-cutting for the Gina and Frank Day Health Institute Interprofessional Simulation and Skills Labs, a collegewide address from Szypulski and Faculty/Staff Awards.

CHHS Week is a celebration of all that we are as a community, as well as all that’s to come this year and beyond. It’s going to be a blast,” Szypulski said.
