Your event is ready to announce to faculty and staff, and you need to get the word out. What’s next? Take the two steps below to promote your event to employees via the University Events Calendar and Early Bird newsletter

Step one: Submit your event to the University Events Calendar

  1. Use the “Submit Event” link in the upper right corner of the calendar homepage.
  1. Sign up using your MSU Denver email address.
  1. Select your department or program when prompted.
  1. Double-check event details (name, date, time, location, RSVP info, contact info and images).
  1. Images should be 940 x 557px or larger. Rectangular photos will appear better than square photos.
  1. Allow two to three business days for review and posting.
  1. For best results, plan to submit your event at least two weeks ahead of the start date.

Please note: All public events with wide appeal are considered for promotion at the top of the calendar page.

To ask a question, learn more about event submission guidelines, become a department event editor or add an event feed to your department website, visit the University Events Calendar support page.

Once your calendar listing is live, you’re ready to submit your event for inclusion in University newsletters, including the Early Bird newsletter, which is sent to all employees every Tuesday and Thursday.

  1. Submit an Event Promotion request (new!).
  1. Include a link to your calendar listing.
  1. Campus events will be listed in the Early Bird two weeks before the start date.
  1. If the event appeals to external audiences, consider submitting a story idea at least four weeks in advance.
  1. If the event appeals to students, select “Social Media Support” on the Event Promotion request form for consideration on University social media channels.

Amplify your event

  1. Submit your event to The ‘Runner student newsletter and/or the Faculty Affairs Newsletter if relevant for those audiences.
  1. Add the event to your department or program website.
  1. Share the calendar listing via department-owned social media and newsletters.
