Faculty Senate delays vote on DEI handbook changes

The body passes a minor change relating to the Mandatory Participation Verification Policy and endorses another.

The Metropolitan State University of Denver Faculty Senate approved changes during its Feb. 14 meeting, including the Last Date of Attendance for the Mandatory Participation Verification Policy and endorsement of the Academic Policy Enactment Policy. The body was scheduled to vote on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Handbook changes but was unable to vote due to minor friendly amendments and time constraints.

Last Date of Attendance 

The body voted to include minor language changes to the Mandatory Participation Verification Policy to allow faculty members to determine their own definitions of participation if they adhere to the federal guidelines. The vote passed with 66 in favor, five in opposition and four abstaining.

Academic Policy Enactment Policy 

The body also approved its endorsement of the Academic Policy Enactment Policy before it goes to the University Policy Advisory Committee. The vote passed with 60 in favor, three in opposition and four abstaining.
