Metropolitan State University of Denver has appointed Ethan Waples, Ph.D., as interim dean of the College of Business, effective Aug. 1. Waples currently serves as associate dean of the college and brings to the role extensive experience in business higher education.
Waples’ leadership comes at a pivotal time for the college as it prepares for its upcoming reaccreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Human Resources will conduct a national search for a permanent dean beginning in August, with candidate selection anticipated by next spring.
Before joining MSU Denver, Waples held academic leadership roles at the University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Houston – Downtown. His background provides the college with the kind of expertise needed to guide an AACSB-accredited program through strategic transitions, said Provost Matt Makley, Ph.D.
“In his time at MSU Denver, Dr. Waples has quickly acquainted himself with our College of Business, students, faculty and staff,” Makley said. “His appointment as the interim dean will maintain continuity for the college as it readies for AACSB reaccreditation. We are grateful to have Ethan serving in this critical role.”
Waples steps into the position as the University expands its search for a permanent dean, building on a foundation of academic excellence and a commitment to prepare students for the evolving business landscape.
The new dean will succeed Ann Murphy, Ph.D., who is stepping down from her leadership role after 27 years of service in the College of Business.
