Metropolitan State University of Denver has upgraded its online Faculty and Staff Directory, part of the University’s comprehensive public A–Z Directory that also includes departmental and program listings. The online, searchable database now delivers a more accurate, searchable and dynamic experience. This change aims to improve internal connectedness and external accessibility.
Administrative staff members and faculty members will see significant improvements allowing for more robust, engaging and valuable profiles. Previously, the directory offered only basic information and lacked full profile pages with customizable content, including fields such as office hours, published works and general biographies. The enhanced solution will integrate data from Workday and Watermark Faculty Success, the platform that faculty members have long used for their professional profiles. Staff members are also able to create profiles in Watermark, giving them an option to provide more detailed directory information, including academic credentials, publications and more.
“Our faculty and staff are one of MSU Denver’s greatest strengths — they set us apart for prospective students and employees and play a vital role in shaping our reputation,” said Whei Wong, associate vice president of Marketing, Brand and Digital Strategy. “These improvements will showcase individual and collective expertise and create new opportunities for engagement and visibility.”

Updating your profile
To populate or make changes in the new directory, please review and update your information in the following systems:
- Workday → Update your photo, name and business title.
- Watermark Faculty Success* → Update your biography, office hours, personal website, education/degree and any published works.
Step-by-step instructions for updating profile pages are available here.
Updates made to the systems above will take 24 hours from entry to be reflected in the A-Z Directory. For photo updates, additional time may be required as content necessitates approval from Human Resources. Changes will be carried over on an ongoing basis.
*Note: While the Watermark platform primarily supports faculty members, staff members also have access using their MSU Denver NetID.
Opting out
Listing in the directory is optional. If employees prefer to opt out, users can sign into Watermark to update their display preference via the steps below:
- Navigate to General Information and select Personal and Contact Information (Public Profile).
- Scroll and select the option for Public Directory – do not display my name in the directory.
- Once selected, an employee’s entire profile will be removed from the directory listing. Updates may take up to 24 hours to populate.
Future enhancements
The launch of the new A–Z Directory marks an important milestone, but it is just the beginning. This roll-out establishes the foundation for the next phase, which will begin in Spring 2026, when Digital Marketing will introduce enhanced departmental and team pages generated from organizational hierarchy data. These enhancements will expand the functionality of the directory and provide greater clarity in how teams and responsibilities are represented.
Once in place, default departmental or team views can be customized to re-order or re-organize team members to more accurately depict structure or communicate responsibilities. Additional details will be shared via the Early Bird as these features become available.
