A longtime leader and new assistant vice president in the Metropolitan State University of Denver Enrollment Management unit will oversee campuswide Workday technology integration in alignment with enrollment strategy and student success goals.

Last week, MSU Denver’s Registrar Connie Sanders stepped into an expanded leadership role as assistant vice president of Enrollment Management and registrar. The appointment recognizes Sanders’ experience leading complex academic operations and positions her to guide the university’s transition to the Workday student information system while strengthening alignment between student systems and enrollment strategy.

In addition to overseeing operations in the Office of the Registrar, Sanders will continue to provide executive leadership for MSU Denver’s transition to Workday, the university’s new student information system. She will partner with campus leaders to implement and improve the system while assessing its organizational impact and recommending workflow and structural changes.

“I am eager to continue supporting the Office of the Registrar and providing leadership in the implementation of Workday as our new student information system,” Sanders said. “This initiative represents more than a system upgrade — it is a transformative effort that will significantly impact staff, faculty and students.”

Sanders will also lead governance and continuous improvement efforts tied to the system, ensuring staffing, financial resources and technical infrastructure are in place to sustain operations. As a member of the Enrollment Management leadership team, she will help advance institutional initiatives and inclusive enrollment strategies that support recruitment, retention and student completion.

Sanders was selected for the role because of her deep institutional knowledge and proven leadership in Registrar operations, said Megan Scherzberg, associate vice president of Enrollment Management.

“Connie brings an exceptional understanding of academic policy, compliance and student-centered service,” Scherzberg said. “Her ability to navigate complex systems, collaborate with partners across campus and implement process improvements makes her the right leader to strengthen alignment between our student systems, academic operations and enrollment strategy.”

In the coming months, Sanders will continue playing a central role in Workday optimization and governance, ensuring the technology supports enrollment goals, data-informed decision-making and student progress.

The expanded role reflects MSU Denver’s commitment to stable, strategic leadership as the university modernizes its student systems and continues to advance initiatives that prioritize student success.
