There is still time to submit a nomination for open officer and senator positions on the Metropolitan State University of Denver Staff Senate.
The benefits of being a member of the Staff Senate include participating in University-level decision-making, providing a voice for University staff members and developing opportunities for collaboration across campus by connecting with departments and staff members outside of your division.
“I feel more connected to my colleagues across campus after being part of the Staff Senate for the past year,” said Bridget Wetzel, Online Student Services manager, Office of Online Learning. “And as the Communications Committee chair, I’ve used my skills to ensure that members of the Staff Senate and the MSU Denver community are informed of policies, initiatives and events.”
Joining the Staff Senate also allows officers and senators to take a hands-on approach in advocating for themselves and fellow staff members, directly impacting those who work alongside them.
“Having Bridget serve on the Staff Senate has a two-directional benefit,” said Matt Griswold, associate vice president, Office of Online Learning. “We get direct insight into the efforts of the Staff Senate to address the needs, concerns and perceptions of University staff, and we have a clear path for communicating staff priorities. It’s been great!”
Do you know someone you think would make a great addition to the Staff Senate? University staff members can use this form to nominate themselves or recommend colleagues for senator and leadership positions. Please note that student employees are also eligible to serve on the Staff Senate. Nominated staff members will receive a Nominee Information Form to collect information for the ballot and verify their nomination acceptance.
For more information about the nomination or voting processes, please contact the Staff Senate Executive Committee.
