The Auraria Higher Education Center is rolling out several transportation updates, including expanded access to the Campus Accessibility Shuttle, a new overnight parking option and a renamed permit area in the 7th Street Garage. Here’s what you need to know:

Campus Accessibility Shuttle now open to all

The Campus Accessibility Shuttle (CAS) is now available to all Auraria Campus affiliates — including MSU Denver faculty and staff — and is no longer limited to people with disabilities.

The service operates 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday to Friday and runs as an on-demand, call-to-ride shuttle between designated campus stops. Riders can board with a valid campus ID.

The fleet includes vehicles equipped to support a range of mobility needs, and service animals are permitted.

For full details on how to request rides, stop locations and accessibility features, read AHEC’s CAS announcement

New overnight parking permits available

AHEC Parking and Transportation Services now offers an overnight parking option for faculty, staff and students who regularly remain on campus after hours.

Key points:

  • Permits are required for overnight access in select garages.
  • They are issued on a semester-long basis, not daily or customizable.
  • Enforcement remains in place.

Eligible garages:

  • 5th Street Garage
  • 7th Street Garage
  • Tivoli Garage

Permits are digital and linked to registered license plates, eliminating the need for hangtags.

7th Street Garage permit area renamed “Redwood”

To reduce confusion and reflect an expanded permit footprint, the 7th Street Garage permit area is being renamed the Redwood Permit Area, effective in early May.

What’s changing:

  • The permit area includes additional space, including an added row on the second floor.
  • The new name is meant to better distinguish this permit type from Gold Passport and daily parking options.
  • Permit naming will align with the Redwood designation starting with summer semester sales beginning May 5.

For current permit holders:

  • No action is required.
  • Your permit will automatically update to the new designation.
  • Payroll deductions and account settings will remain unchanged.
