Metropolitan State University of Denver’s University Advancement team once again has exceeded its annual fundraising goal.
A record $22.1 million was raised during the 2023-24 fiscal year — a 28% increase from 2022-23 — thanks to over 4,600 donors, including alumni, faculty members, staff members, individuals, foundations and corporations. Generous faculty and staff members provided for Roadrunners’ well-being with gifts totaling more than $161,000.
The fundraising success allowed the MSU Denver Foundation to increase its support of the University by 40% over the previous year, contributing to scholarships, operational programs, capital initiatives and more. Gift highlights included a historic $10 million gift from Gina and Frank Day, establishing the Gina and Frank Day Health Institute at MSU Denver; a transformational $1.4 million gift from Colorado Access and the Colorado Access Foundation to grow and diversify Colorado’s health care workforce; $300,000 over three years from the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority to help launch the Affordable Housing Institute in the College of Business; nearly $100,000 raised during the Roadrunners Athletics Giving Challenge on MSU Denver Day of Giving, supporting student-athletes in the classroom and on the fields and courts of play; and many others.
“President Davidson and University leaders have inspired our campus community and donors to take action,” said Christine Márquez-Hudson, vice president of University Advancement. “Our job in Advancement is to facilitate connections that help MSU Denver achieve its mission.”
Advancement aligns its fiscal goals with the University’s 2030 Strategic Plan, partnering with donors to invest in priority pillars: facilitating student success, cultivating inclusive excellence, creating classroom-to-career pathways and contributing to Colorado’s talent pipeline.
“MSU Denver is experiencing an unprecedented era of excellence, relevance and service to our students and community,” said Márquez-Hudson. “We are committed to sustaining this momentum and growing investments for the University’s highest priorities.”
Last year’s success allows MSU Denver to continue providing current and future Roadrunners with the resources they need to turn ambition into achievement, reach their goal of graduating and become tomorrow’s Changemakers.
