As an employee of Metropolitan State University of Denver did you know that you have access to thousands of streaming movies and TV series, educational resources, news subscriptions and more through the Auraria Library?

If you’re looking to catch up on news of the day or to conduct research, you’re eligible for a free New York Times subscription for faculty and staff members. Instructions available on the library website explain how to start a free 364-day subscription, which is renewable upon expiration.

The Auraria Library’s media offerings also include an extensive database featuring more than 30,000 films and 250,000 video clips from over 1,200 international producers, including winners of Oscar, Emmy and Peabody awards. Free use of platforms such as Kanopy, Academic Video Online and Swank Motion Pictures offer feature films and documentaries from major global producers. Some logins require authentication of an employee’s MSU Denver email address.

The library also provides a wide range of fine-arts programming, including classic opera and theatre productions from collections including the BBC Shakespeare catalog and others consisting of hundreds of live performances.

Specialized resources curated to support classroom learning include filmed science experiments, teaching demonstrations and training videos. Multiple platforms provide access to streaming training videos in the field of counseling, psychology, psychotherapy and addiction.

Most videos and programs on the library’s database are closed-captioned and may be embedded or linked in syllabi or course management systems.
