Staff Senate invites nominations for next difference-makers

Nominate yourself or a colleague for officer or senator positions by March 31.

The Metropolitan State University of Denver Staff Senate is accepting nominations for open senator and officer roles, including vice president, treasurer, and the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) advisor. 

The Staff Senate shapes University decisions, amplifies the staff voice and builds connections across campus. Recent accomplishments include: 

  • Advocating for equitable salary increases and bonuses for administrative/professional staff. 
  • Writing and co-sponsoring the Staff Alternative Work Arrangements policy (approved April 2022).
  • Representing staff interests at President’s Cabinet and Board of Trustees meetings.
  • Launching the Staff Senate JEDI Committee to advance equity and learning opportunities.
  • Hosting staff-focused forums with relevant guest speakers. 
  • Representing staff on university recognition and awards committees.

Staff members — including student employees — are encouraged to nominate themselves or a colleague. Nominated individuals will receive a Nominee Information Form to confirm acceptance and provide ballot information. 

Elections will be open from May 4 to May 18 with senators and officers assuming their new positions July 1For details about nominations or voting, email Bridget Wetzel, elections chair.
